REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION INTO THE NIGERIAN INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTS (NIA)

There are Eight Classes of Membership of the Institute as Follows:

  1. Fellows
  2. Full members
  3. Associate Members
  4. Graduate Members
  5. Architectural Technologist
  6. Technical Assistant
  7. Student Members
  8. Honourary Fellows
  9. Honourary Members
  10. Foreign Members

Application for membership except in the case of Honourary members and Honourary Fellows is made to the Honourary General Secretary and admission to membership is usually granted through a majority decision of the Executive Council. The Institute may confer honourary membership on deserving persons; on the recommendation of the Executive Council only. Application for membership is made on a form obtainable from the Secretariat or its approved representaing body. All applications must provide sufficient documentation about the applicant’s qualifications to enable the Executive Council decide the appropriate class of membership to which the applicant shall be elected. 

Requirements in Respect of Membership Application Forms

  1. Photocopies of documents to be attached to application form:
  2. Ordinary Level Certificate or its equivalent
  3. Advance Level Certificate or its equivalent (if any)
  4. B.Sc. Arch., M.Sc. Arch Certificates or their equivalent
  5. N.Y.S.C. Certificate – (Discharge or exemption)
  6. Nigerian Institute of Architects’ Certificate of Professional Competence (if application is for Full Registration)
  7. Nigerian Institute of Architects’ Finals 2 Certificate (where school attended is not accredited or recognized)
  8. Evidence of change of name (if applicable)

THE NIGERIAN INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTS PRIVATE ONLINE PREPARATORY COURSE

The NIA preparatory class is meant for professionals who are about to sit for the various levels of professional Examination(s) offered by the institute. Past questions and Answers are provided with all-round guidance/mentorship by registered Architects.
Duration of study : Three (3) months
Mode of Study : Online coursework
Curriculum includes: Past Seminar materials, Guide to membership registration, Project research & documentation, construction materials & methods, Portfolio design, Referee signing.
